Munus! Bagus!
Okie, I hope this works! Haven blogged in donkey years and am unsure whether the post would be rejected again or not!
After 2 days in KL for MUNUS, I finally got the continuous sleep I needed so badly. The Malaysian commando mosquitos managed to break through the barriers set up for them and sting the shit out of me to make me sleep deprived for 2 straight nights! Hate them!
Anyway, back to MUNUS. I was very happy to be able to travel up to KL proper this time round, with so many of my classmates, and for a totally different purpose - that is to play games with our medical counterparts in their home-ground. I love the people there for their hospitality! There's this traditional kampung feeling when they went all out to borrow cars from their relatives and friends at 12am just to bring us out to the KL night scene when we arrived. Not only so, they did that for 2 nights too. Wow! I wonder whether we'll ever do so if they come over.
Okie, I think I had dreadfully worn myself out for the past 2 days cause I think I was the only mad idiot to play 4 games, Hockey, Badminton, Futsal and Touch Rugby, straight from morning till night and again on the next morning. It was very interesting to play with the Malaysians because they were outright skillful in Hockey and Badminton and as such, I lost with a smiley face and no regrets! :) But who would ever thought about playing in hospital grounds for badminton and table tennis? The playing areas came as a shocker for the slippery backyard was so crammed and we were playing just outside patient wards so loudly that I think we woke the entire hospital up!
Futsal at night was way cool! For the 1st time, our team played with guts out and we actually managed to beat the malaysian teams to avenge for Singapore's loss to Malaysia in international scenes. Haha! To those who decided to go shopping at night, sorry but you missed 3 great matches that our med guys showed what they can do with their heads and legs! We topped the league, injured some of our players and endure some taunts from the 'mats', but man, I can safely say we played like true men and indeed was proud of our results! This surging energy continued the next day when we brought our winning 'streak' to the rugby fields. Actually, we kinda won because they din know how to play. But who cares...we won! Haha!
Other interesting stuff that took place:
- clubs and pubs @ bangsar filled with nothing but indians...gosh~!
- morning breakfast comprising of rice and chilli
- transporting huge humans in the miniest of cars --> the powerful Kanchils!
- saving a mother cat aka pussy from the hostel window ledge
- frightening malaysians with sg frisbees
- walking along the hilly road to travel from 2nd residential college to 6th residential college and back even though motorbikes and cars are plentiful
- driving out in the night to watch FA cup, only to return back to the hostel because there's no space out there in the hawker area. Man U lost!
- supper (1 ice-milo, 1 pattaya mee goreng, 1 ramli burger) at 1am in hostel grounds for 5RM
- walking around in KL streets with a walletful of ringgit but there's nothing to buy!
- eating buffet dinner 1/2 hr before futsal kick-off. What a ploy by malaysians!
- eating deep fried and heavily-floured chickens for chicken buffet dinner
- taking 5 nauseous rides in Times Square indoor theme park after the buffet dinner. Nearly puked out the chickens from the stomach.
- shoppping around in Pertaling Street for 1hr only to buy 1 pack of longan drink
- playing cards in KL street
- a ride from SG to KL took 8 hrs, but only 4 hrs on the return trip. Did the roads contract at night?
Made several new malaysian friends from Universiti Malaya. Hope this new friendships continue to last beyond the MUNUS games. I'm starting to miss KL already...
